Williams’ Atlantic Sunrise Project is providing a $10,000 grant to help Penn College launch a makerspace on its main campus. The company’s Atlantic Sunrise Community Grant Program is offering the unrestricted funding support for The Dr. Welch Workshop: A Makerspace at Penn College, which is expected to be completed in the Carl Building Technologies Center for the fall semester.

Penn College wrestlers wrapped up their regular season over the weekend while the men’s and women’s basketball teams, which close out their seasons with home games on Wednesday and Saturday, went a combined 0-6.

Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Penn College is offering training to people seeking employment in the natural gas and energy industry. In addition to learning industry employability skills and gaining three industry-recognized certifications, students will be connected to employers who have immediate hiring needs.  Scholarships are available to those who qualify on a first-come, first-served basis. The training is delivered by Penn College as a result of its award-winning ShaleNET partnership.

The financial commitment to students by two donor groups – The 1914 Society and The Pillar Society – was recognized at a preshow reception in the Community Arts Center’s Capitol Lounge on Thursday evening. The 1914 Society recognizes individuals and families who annually make gifts of $1,000 or more to the college; The Pillar Society comprises individuals who have named the college or the Penn College Foundation as a beneficiary of a planned gift.
