Women's Basketball - Mueller repeats as first-team all-conference

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – After leading the Lycoming College women’s basketball team through its most successful season in two decades, senior Shelby Mueller (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) has become the first Lycoming player to earn back-to-back First Team All-MAC Commonwealth honors since the team joined the conference in 2007-08, the conference office announced on Friday, Feb. 23.

She became the first Warrior since 1994-95 to average a double-double, posting 15.0 points and 10.1 rebounds per game as a senior, starting all 25 games for the team and leading the conference in scoring and finishing second in rebounding. She also led the conference in free throw percentage (.851) and finished fourth in field goal percentage (.479). She was also key defensively, finishing fifth in the league in blocked shots (1.3) and 10th in steals (1.6).

Mueller enjoyed one of the best seasons in program history, finishing 15th in school history with 375 points, third with 97 free throws made, fourth with the .851 free throw percentage, fourth with 252 rebounds, seventh with 10.1 rebounds per game, second with 12 double-doubles and seventh with 33 blocked shots.

The 5-11 forward finished her career with a school-record 102 games started, 1,266 career points (fifth in school history), 741 rebounds (fourth), 150 steals (11th) and 103 blocks (fourth). She is the second Warrior to lead the team in rebounding in all four years of her career, joining Lyndy LeVan (1999-03).

She is the first Warrior to earn back-to-back first-team all-conference honors since LeVan was All-Freedom Conference three straight years from 1999-02. After earning Honorable Mention All-MAC Commonwealth honors in 2015-16, she is the fourth player in school history to earn three all-conference awards in a career, joining Erica Weaver ’98, LeVan ’03 and Julia Antonelli ’14.

The Warriors (17-8 overall) finished the year with their most wins since the 1999-00 season, as the team wrapped up its fifth straight winning season, reaching the conference semifinals for the second straight year. It also tied a school record with an 11-5 conference record, earning the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament, its highest finish in the conference standings since joining the MAC Commonwealth a decade ago.
