BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - Freshman forward Travis Elmore (Tobyhanna, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) of the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. It marks the first weekly honor during the brilliant start to his collegiate career.

Elmore helped lead Bloomsburg to a 2-2 record during the week by averaging 16.0 points and 8.8 rebounds, including the first two double-doubles of his collegiate career. Elmore also added six assists, eight blocks, and five steals in the four games. Elmore has started his rookie season by reaching double figures in scoring in all six games thus far for the Huskies. He scored 11 points at Division I Saint Francis on Tuesday and then earned his first career double-double on Wednesday against Felician as he scored 18 points and grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds in a 77-72 win over the Golden Falcons.

On Saturday in the PSAC opener, Elmore scored 16 points to go along with eight rebounds, three steals (career-high), and four blocks (career-high) in a 66-62 win over Gannon. His free throw with 45 seconds left tied the game and then his layup with 9.4 seconds left in regulation snapped the 62-62 tie. On Sunday, despite playing through foul trouble, Elmore posted a career-high 19 points to go along with 12 rebounds and a pair of blocks in the Huskies' overtime loss to Edinboro. All told, Elmore shot 25-of-44 (56.9%) from the field and 5-of-9 (55.6%) from three-point range.

In his first collegiate season, Elmore is averaging 14.5 points - second on the team - and a team-high 7.5 rebounds. He ranks in the top 20 in the PSAC in both points and rebounds and is fourth in the league by averaging 1.5 blocks per game.

Bloomsburg returns to action on Saturday, December 8, when it heads to Erie to take on the Lakers of Mercyhurst University. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. from the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.
