World of Little League® Museum Excited to Participate in 10th Annual National Blue Star Museums Program

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Starting on Armed Forces Day (Saturday, May 18), the World of Little League® Museum and Official Store (525 U.S. 15, South Williamsport, Pa.) will be joining museums around the United States in the10th Annual National Blue Star Museums Program, which provides free admission to families of those active military and veterans who provide proper identification.

The project is a collaboration between the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 2,000 museums throughout the United States. A detailed list of participating museums may be found at The free admission through the Blue Star Museums Program is available for those currently serving in the United States Military—Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard as well as members of the Reserves, National Guard, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps, and up to five family members. Qualified members must show a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card for entrance into a participating Blue Star Museum.

“The National Blue Star Museums Program is a great opportunity for all of us to give back to the brave men and women who have dedicated their lives to serving our country,” said Lance Van Auken, Little League Vice President and Executive Director of the Museum. “We are very excited to once again be able to take part in this year’s celebration, and we are looking forward to welcoming in the men and women of the military and their families this summer.”

Although the program ends on Labor Day, the World of Little League Museum offers free admission to veterans, active military (National Guard and Reserve too), and their families all year round.

As part of Blue Star Museums program, military families with young children are offered a “Parent’s Tool Kit” with tips about visiting a museum and visitors to the World of Little League Museum are also encouraged to explore the entire Little League International Complex on the self-guided walking tour during their time in Williamsport.

McGovern Museum and Official Store, located at 525 Montgomery Pike (U.S. Route 15), is open daily from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. General admission is $5, children (ages 5 through 12) are $2, and senior citizens (ages 62 and older) are $3. Children four years and younger are admitted free of charge, as well as any Little Leaguer wearing a uniform shirt that includes the Little League official shoulder patch.
